Probably the most satisfying part of having a successful first year has been the ability to give something back. We were lucky enough to have a strong start to the business in 2018, and this allowed us to offer support to a number of organisations that are close to our business.
Our Managing Director, Chris Stillman, is a trustee of Camp Mohawk, an activity centre for children and young people with special needs. As with all small charities funding is very challenging at the moment, as local governments have their own budgets cut, and have to reduce spending in the charity sector. We were happy to be able to sponsor Camp Mohawk’s annual fireworks events, which included a quiet display for those amongst the visitors to the site who are sensitive to loud noises. We hope to be able to offer wider support to the team at Camp Mohawk over the coming years – the work that they do is vital to a huge number of families in the local area.
We were also able to take on the role of kit sponsor for the minis section at Rams Rugby, including Camp Mohawk’s (which also has a strong connection with the club) logo into the bargain. Chris is Minis Manager and under 9s lead coach at Rams, and we were only too happy to able to support a genuine community sports club.
We have also been able to support Me 2 Club at their row-a-thon towards the end of last year (winning the prize for most metres rowed by an individual, with just over 10,000) and Launchpad Reading at their annual golf day (picking up the Nearest the Pin prize along the way).
Supporting local causes is very important to us – we hope to continue our success in business so we can continue to support the work of as many good causes as possible in the local area.
